Awesome auger 2010-07-26 |
| By sanders |
This auger was a gift for my husband who loves to work in the yard. Our yard in Arizona is very hard and rocky. His current project is drilling holes to install patio lighting.
With this heavy duty auger the project became easier and less time consuming. |
H D auger for fertilization. 2010-07-26 |
| By bill |
My customer fell in love with the HD auger I sold him to fertilize trees. He works for a university and they had been digging holes for fertilizer spikes by hand. He was well pleased with the HD build, length and appearance of the product and saved money by being able to use 1/2" cordless drills that the maintenance department already had. He purchased this instead of spending $300.00 + on a gas powered drill and now comments that he wishes he had had this a long time back.

PERFECT for fertilizing Trees 2010-06-24 |
| By Robert E. Mcalister (Jacksonville, FL, USA) |
I fertilize trees by filling foot deep holes with Milorganite around the drip line. As the trees get bigger, so do the drip lines. I used to use a 1" pipe and hammer into the ground. Yeah that was dumb. I got this auger, and it is perfect. It has a notch so it doesn't slip in the drill chuck, don't be fooled by the cheaper ones!
I fertilized my live oak of about 5 years, and needed approximately 20 holes 2' apart (drip line is about 12-15 foot in diameter.) It took me literally like 5 minutes to do. With my old method, I was out there for like an hour at least. In general, this tills the sandy florida soil very quickly, so even planting annuals and such would be much easier with this product.
I chose the heavy duty, and in hind sight I think that was the way to go. Every once in a while you'll bang into something hard and I think the extra reinforcement on the first cutting blade is well worth it.
Also, I got this like 2 days after I ordered it. Great mom and pop USA company apparently, after checking out their website. Thanks! |
Durable auger 2009-10-09 |
| By Richard P. Beatty (Delaware) |
| I use this for fertilizing trees, using a corded very heavy duty 1/2" drill to drive it. This auger seems to be very durably constructed, heavy and securely welded. I expect it to last much longer than the previous auger I owned. I would have liked to see a few more turns of spiral around the shaft, but this design is quite serviceable, if only you need to lift it more frequently to clear dirt from the hole. I think this product is an excellent choice for anyone wanting a durable auger. |
The best there is.......Worth the money........................... 2008-06-15 |

I own 7 augers that I purchased from Custom Auger, including a few of their high end industrial models.
There is abig diference in theirs compared with the less expensive others sold on Amazon and hardware stores.
The difference is the cutting edge. It is made of much heavier steel.
Their service is beyond excellent. They ship on the same or next business day by Priority Mail. I usually get them in two or three days. You can't beat Tom and Becky. They are a family husband and wife business.
If you want the auger to last, buy from Custom Auger. If you want it for two or three holes, the cheap ones "MIGHT" do.
