Customer rating is 4 of 5  Very original and sharp blade, but failed in one area...   2010-04-27
By C. Boyce (K.C mo.)
Had to drop one star on this amazing knife because of its handle. It simply is too small and has ZERO protection to the user's index finger when using it. It would make for one bad-ass'd diving knife but if I were to use the chisel end of the knife on a rock or shell on the ocean floor, and my hand were to slip, well then that's blood in the water! So i only feel safe chopping, cutting ect.. If it only had CRKT"S injection-molded black Zytel® grip then five stars easy! Drawing up plans for a new set of grips now. Ill add them as pictures when done.

Bought mine online, but only after checking out a real one first at a local shop. Cut my index finger when first putting it back in the sheathe, which left a distinct impression. Also, remember the conical glass breaker at the base of the handle will put a hole in the base of your hand if you forget it's there. I like the glass breaker, but would only consider using it when the Kidex sheathe is slipped over the massive and seriously sharp multiple edges.

SS7 is a lifetime purchase. Substantial, beautiful and seriously sharp EVERYWHERE except for the well crafted Micarta handle. The gorgeous machining when held up to the light is enough to bring tears to your eyes.

You know who would value the quality, heft & execution of this blade ? Harley riders.

The Kidex sheathe looks clunky at first, but after time with it you understand it's a perfect configuration and the material choice for this piece. I don't expect to do so, but if you ever needed to field dress an elk with just one tool, this would be the one. The serrated edge on the top would make a decent bone saw.

This is a substantial and exquisitely machined beauty, so beautiful I hesitate to put it to real work sometimes. One caution: It's too short to substitute as a functional machete... and probably just too damn sharp for that task. You DO NOT want to make any mistakes swinging this piece around. You do not want to carelessly drop it in your lap. DO NOT purchase this as a gift for your absent minded teenager. This thing requires attention and respect.

I own a humbler true chisel knife which does its job right. This Razel chisel point hybrid is actually better on some chiseling tasks because you get extra leverage with the longish blade.

It's a big evil looking dog and I typically stash it in my hydration pack and do not carry it on my belt or webbing. It's just too intimidating to be openly carried, in my opinion.

It's a solid friction fit-only into the sheathe. There's about as much friction as you would expect from a smaller neck knife/sheathe configuration. Except you plain don't want this one to fall out of the sheathe and slice something off on it's way down. Sometimes I've coupled together two caribiners ...to prevent knife & sheath from separating in extra rough transit.

Get one. Upon inheriting it, your great great grandkids will be absolutely convinced you were one scarey bastard who also valued quality.

Way more than I expected. Very hefty in construction, nice lines and top notch craftsmanship.

This is what you would want if surrounded by Zombies and you had to slice your way out. It was a little shorter than I thought it might be so it is not an actual machete. More like a cleaver on steroids. Sharp everywhere except just in front of the guard so you can put your thumb there for pressure and control. I teach knife fighting so you can easily use it for that as well as various chopping chores such as brush. At the price I paid I am unsure if I would use it to chop up limbs and brush but I can if its needed. I am also going to get one of the Spec Plus machette to do the grunt work and not worry about tearing this one up. At a hundred bucks less who cares what you have to hack through.
If its in your way it wont stand a chance. Very well made, and the little glass breaker thing on the end is so small I really dont notice it. That part is designed to desinigrate glass panes or auto glass for entry or escape with little fuss. Everyone I show it to goes "JEEZ, WHAT THE HELL" so be aware it is an attention getting blade. He stays by my bedside at night. On the other hand if you had to use this in your house on an intruder you should have a power washer for cleanup, so maybe the glock would be less messy all around.
Ok Im done rambling, glad I got it and you will be too.

for real you could butcher a cow with this thing, it is amazing. the guy from TX was right about the sharpness, it is a razor. i was so suprised with the quality, but i do think i'll take out the spike on the end as he did. other than that it is the best knife i have.
