| The EasyBloom Plant Sensor helps you grow a ideal garden not including the guesswork. Is this corner too hot, too dark, or too dry? Instead of wondering which plants will thrive where, recognize for sure together with EasyBloom. This ingenious in-ground sensor reads and analyzes growing conditions in specific spots inside your home or yard, counting sunlight, temperature, humidity, soil moisture and drainage. It even uses the same technology used on NASA's Mars mission to measure the soil. Plug it into your computer and watch as it turns readings into recommendations, listing plants sure to flourish in your exact setting. Narrow your search extra by specifying desired bloom color or season, plant height, drought tolerant, deer resistant, and other features. EasyBloom puts expert plant help in the palm of your hand: * Access the EasyBloom database of 5,000+ plants (developed together with the largest growers of plants and flowers). * Locate plants to thrive in each region of your home and garden, based on algorithms developed by leading plant horticulturalists and botanists * End the discouraging cycle of trial-and-error planting. * Diagnose ailing plants and get them back to health. * Keep inventory of your own plants for one-click plant care. The ultimate "why didn't someone believe of this sooner" invention, EasyBloom is like having your own personal team of botanists on-call all-around the clock. The outcome? Love it, but one tiny thing I would change. 2010-03-10 |
| By Jess Latham (USA) |
| I think this is a great product. Genius actually. There's just one tiny thing I would change. I was hoping it would give me exact temperature measurements. Instead it gives the average and shows a line graph that shows temps as (Moderate, Hot, Very Hot, Below Freezing, etc.) I was hoping to use this for plants that I protect in the winter time, placing it under the protection to record how effective the protection was. I guess I would know if it went below freezing, so that's good. It's still going to be useful and I think I will be using it a lot to record all the microclimates around the yard. Maybe they can update the temps feature with a software update? hint hint ; ) |

Useless 2010-02-24 |
| By Stan Tomberg (Hendersonville, NC) |
It does nothing more than tells you if the plant is getting enough sun and water. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that!

Disappointed with EasyBloom sensor!! 2010-02-04 |
| By L. Pickett (Kansas) |
| The sensor is not water proof so it is not suitable for unattended data collection outdoors. Also the sensor has to connect to the Internet to change set mode, download data, change mode which means I can not buy the additional sensors and collect data outside which makes it worthless to me. I am very disappointed there is no software I can use on my netbook or PDA. If the company goes out of business, the sensor is useless!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Probably will work great for outdoor gardens in the US 2010-01-28 |
| By JungleGirl (Tokyo, Japan) |
I'm sure that this is a great product for those who can make it work. The concept is great. Unfortunately, I probably should have waited a bit longer for more information to come out about the product before purchasing it.
I purchased the EasyBloom based on the information shown here on Amazon when the product first came out. Unfortunately, I did not look at the company's site beforehand, and the information on Amazon did not clearly state that it cannot not be used overseas. (Currently, it simply says that it is "not recommended" for overseas use.) As this is an inexpensive, simple product (as opposed to a PC or AV equipment), the thought of doing additional research didn't cross my mind.
When it arrived, I thought that I could get around the problem by putting in an American zipcode. I only grow banana plants indoors with a 800W growlamp, so I thought it would not matter much anyway. I really only wanted this for checking my indoor growing environment, which can be tweaked to match any region.
However, the sensor was unable to pick up any data. I got some help from customer service via Twitter, and I kept being told that EASYBLOOM DOES NOT WORK OVERSEAS, which the software had already told me. However, if the zip code is the only piece of data that confirms where you are, I did not understand why it would refuse to pick up any data. Then (after half-ignoring my questions), the representative gave me an answer.
Apparently, the EasyBloom only works with real sun. Customer service rep from Twitter did not elaborate and simply said that it will not work with a growlamp. Judging from this and other reviews on here, it really seems to be geared toward outdoor growing. (In the US, of course.)
That being said, this is probably a great product for its limited purposes. If anyone has any idea what I can use this device for (other than cute decoration), please let me know. As it arrived months late, my husband thinks it's probably too late to return it at this point. My rating here mostly reflects that it doesn't really work indoors (despite its description), and that the customer service I received wasn't the best. (I am not penalizing it for the overseas issue.) |
