Customer rating is 5 of 5  Can't live without it!   2010-09-02

I've had a Utili-key for years and years and have given many of them as gifts. It is a simple, elegant, why-didn't-I-think-of-that kind of thing, and if you're like me, you will use it often.

The little knife is SHARP and the screwdriver tips are the right size for messing with a computer or your glasses. No, you're not going to accomplish a three-hour project with just this tool, but when out and about, it will turn you into Miracle-Fixit-Mom in the eyes of your kids. :-) The bottle opener can be damned handy on a camping trip or at a party.

It can be a nuisance to open it to get it off your keyring. It closes TIGHT. Given how sharp that blade is, though, I think the correct difficulty has been chosen. I've had my first one for probably five or more years now and it's a little easier to open, but not much... they don't get sloppy over time. The greatest thing about it, of course, is that you always have it with you whenever you have your keys.

One good or bad thing... it's easy to forget and take it on the airplane with you. TECHNICALLY, this is illegal; it's a blade. Functionally, it looks like a key to you, the TSA screeners, and everyone else. Please don't ruin things for the rest of us by freaking out out loud when you realize that you've left your Utili-key on your keyring and they're going to throw it away. Yes, they will, IF you call attention to it. If you keep quiet, you will walk right through security, because the x-ray screener will see a handful of keys and will send them right through. Be cool, and don't become a terrorist with your Utili-key!

This is a great lil gem. I got one for a gift for my brother-in-law, he's a very rugged outdoor person so I thought well he may like this, I read the reviews and figured oh sure so I order 2 of them and I kept one for myself and to shorten this review they are great we both really like them!! I recommend this product it works like a charm, you just need to be a bit careful when opening it cause the knife blade is quite sharp, but other than that it's really a great lil tool to have with you.
Customer rating is 1 of 5  Broke after 1.5 months   2010-08-28
By Joshua Munger (Lawrenceville, NJ United States)
I purchased this item a little over a month ago and liked it for the most part. I liked having an accesible knife on my key ring. The bottle opener doesn't work well--slips easily which is scary with an open blade on the other end. Regardless, it broke--the metal actually snapped right behind the screwdriver where the bottle opener is. I think this was due to the stress of opening bottles although it was in my pocket when it actually broke. I was very lucky I didn't cut myself when I reached for my keys because the knife was exposed as a result of it breaking. Also, I never used this product in any particularly stressful way--just opening boxes and bottles. I could never recomend this product as a result.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  AWESOME   2010-08-27

Love having this thing! I use the knife more than anything else, to open packages, etc. But I have used the screw driver and bottle opener a few times.

Only complaint it that you really have to be careful about the blade when using the other tools. I am worried I will cut myself. Never have, but that's mainly because I am conscious of it at all times.
